Following his earlier release Horn N Tentacles, dub producer Dubussy returns to Dubophonic with Magic Roots, a six-track album set for release this September. Marking his second full outing on the label, the record captures a new stage in his artistic evolution — one that bridges foundation and exploration with a refined sense of identity.

Developed patiently over time, Magic Roots reflects a process shaped by intention rather than urgency. Built on low heat and slow pressure, the album channels Dubussy’s desire to translate a personal sense of “magic” into the language of dub, while remaining firmly grounded in its core principles. The result is a work that resonates with both tradition and subtle experimentation.

Drawing from his spacious, meditative qualities, while echoing the textural richness of Horn N Tentacles, this new collection expands his sonic palette. Deep basslines, evolving echoes, and organic atmospheres intertwine with ambient and psychedelic influences, creating a sound that feels both rooted and exploratory.

Each of the six tracks reflects a distinct moment in time — fragments of journeys, places, and emotional states woven into a cohesive whole. Experiences, both internal and external, are translated into sound with a quiet precision, forming an interconnected system where ideas grow and feed one another like the roots of a living organism beneath the surface.

More than a standalone release, Magic Roots represents an important chapter in Dubussy’s ongoing development as a producer. It captures an artist deepening his connection to dub’s foundations while allowing his sound to expand naturally, guided by curiosity and experience. With this release, Dubussy continues to carve out a distinctive voice within the contemporary dub landscape — one that values depth over immediacy, and atmosphere over excess — pointing toward a future that remains firmly connected to its roots.

No Finger Nails - Quipu Remixes

A “quipu”, was a method used by the Incas and other ancient Andean cultures to keep records and communicate information. In the ancient Quechua language of the Andes, “quipu” means “knot”. A Quipu is in fact a set of knotted loops, tied by a thicker rope supporting them.

Quipu is also a project created by Atome Primitf, a collective of musicians and "dreamers" from Europe, a project inspired by that same method of knots, stringing artistic ties and new collaborations, through cross-genre musical interpretations and audio-visual concepts.

In fact Quipu was born as an audio-visual concept. The four tracks of the EP started as original compositions of Atome Primitif, with the elements of voice, violin and acoustic guitar modeling an unplugged sound. Quipu traveled all around Europe, involving artists from different countries, each one adding their own personal knot, inspired by the compositions of Clelia Patrono.

Andrea Presicce aka No Finger Nails adds his own musical knot through his musical experience, ranging from Electronica to Dub. The EP consists of four remixed tracks, offering a very dub-ambient and mystical alternative, using the original organic sounds. The project expands also audio-visually, with videos and visuals being produced, on that same quipu idea. Dubophonic is very proud and honored to be part of this, tying its own knot in this continuously evolving project!
