Dubophonic celebrating the Netlabel Day

20 years after the conception of the MP3 format, a group of independent artists and labels from all over the planet have banded together for the first time ever, to celebrate the mp3 and the culture of free music.

Forget about all these well-known "celebrity" artists. The Netlabel Day is an online space made by truly independent artists and netlabels and isfor all those people who listen and support independent art movements, highlighting “free and independent music in high quality format” from different genres.

On this special day, the 14th of July 2015, the 80 participating netlabels, among the Dubophonic, and more than 13 independent artists have released new and original material to celebrate this special day. Of course, all music is for free download. Check all releases and start digging!

To celebrate the intenational Netlabel Day, Dubophonic joined this initiative with the release of a brand new track, a ruff and tuff jungle-stepper vibration ina Koncrete Roots style. Hope you enjoy!

The sound of Negritage

Past, present and future are represented in the sounds of Negritage from Argentina. Their first album "Guetto roots of dub", to be released for free download on the 6th of July 2013, is a musical playground, where analogue vibes meet the new waves of the 21st century dub vibrations. Their gear is whatever is available, some time analogue other times digital, mixer consoles for the overdubbers, a turntable for the vocal samples, sometimes a Kawai drum machine from the eighties. Feel the vibes of their sound!

We would like to thank the Cyprus Dub Community Radio for giving us the chance to present our sounds to the public. The party  was a massive success. We would like to thank everybody for coming. The music was irie, the vibes were extraordinary, the sausages of Sausage Inc. were a one of a kind, the people were peaceful, the dancefloor was full, the weather was fine, THE NIGHT WAS GREAT! For those who missed it we have uploaded a podcast with one hour of dub-o-phonic tunes. Big respect to Rakan Loco, AstronAtty, Selector Red-I, Top Lab Sounds, Dub Thomas and the Roots Crew Soundsystem. Massive thanks to Chester and Demetrius for helping us with the sound when we arrived at the park. Even biggest respect to all of the artists who supplied us with their music, especially to the Riverside Rockers, King Konsul, Dubsynaticx, Negritage, Jennifer Paulus, Red Star Martyrs, Ras Robin Dennis (chilling in the park) and the Zion Dirty Sound.
