Soul Fire, Professor Skank, Hermit Dubz - Rasta People We Are

New 2021 mixes by Professor Skank and Hermit Dubz of the classic tune of Soul Fire "Rasta People", produced by Jah Smiley back in 2013 and originally included in the album Wake Up Your Lion.

The tune has received nuff love from the fans of the band, but since the album release, there was never a dub produced. So we took the initiative to offere you two differrent mixes alongside their relevant dub versions!

Explorations in Dub Vol.2 / Lockdown Dub

The first Explorations In Dub compilation was released back in year 2013, showcasing the works of many artists from around the world and their personal approach on dub music. In the present time of  COVID-19, most producers have been in a lockdown. Nevertheless their  creativity did not stop and some fresh ideas started to sprout while in isolation. So it was time, seven years later, for a Vol. 2, showcasing again many great outernational projects.

After six years of digital releases, we open now a new chapter, with vinyl releases coming from Cyprus. We are so happy and excited to announce our debut vinyl release entitled SEEK JAH FIRST.

SEEK JAH FIRST is out on a 12-inch vinyl. Produced by the Cypriot artist Hermit Dubz out of Birmingham UK, it features 2 great vocals by the Jamaican singers Robert Dallas and Ranking Joe, a melodica-djembe version by Med Dred and Bongo Damo, plus the obligatory heavy dub version for the soundsystems by Hermit Dubz.Vinyl Mastering and Pressing by Jah Tubbys.

Hermit Dubz - Pursuit Of Balance

Hermit Dubz is out of his cave again! His sonic weapons became heavier than ever and his new album entitled “Pursuit Of Balance” is a proof of his new ability.

On the way to find the perfect balance between the world within and Babylon, the new album from the Birmingham’s rising dub specialist includes four heavyweight tracks and four even heavier dubs. Psydub infused with a spiritual vibe and oriental sounds, alongside the Rootical stylings.  Stepper meets orient and the bass chases every vampire away … the way it should always be!

Various Artists - Reggae Sunjam Vol. 2

The Reggae Sunjam Festival is being held every summer in August in Cyprus. It has been running since 2016 and it is the biggest reggae gathering on the island of Cyprus, strongly supporting the local reggae-dub scene, while it is dynamically reinforced every year with special international guests.

In the second compilation we have included artists mainly from the local scene plus a few international guests like Dark Angel and Sister Ruby on riddims/remixes by Blend Mishkin (GR) and Daddy Vertigo (GR), as well as tunes by Utopian Sound (UK), Hermit Dubz (UK), Med Dred (CY), Christina Polycarpou (CY), Kyri Roots (CY), Supernova (CY), Bunfyah (CY), Sunjaman (GR), Manwel T (Malta) and Dub Riots & Indamouse (GR).

Give thanks to all the artists, musicians and producers, who have been supporting us from the day one of the festival. All tracks were mastered in Cyprus by Med Dred.

Hermit Dubz ft. Knati P - Fyah Fi Babylon

Hermit Dubz: The elusive dub hermit, often unseen, toiling away in his hermit cave, meditating on low frequency vibrations. This secretive character grew up travelling the world. From an early age, the love of reggae and dub was instilled in him, and would remain his deepest love. Moving to England in the 90s as a teenager, he discovered the newly awakening electronic dance music scene and was soon DJing and creating his own sonic experiments. Over the years, the reclusive Hermit Dubz has been accumulating a horde of dub influenced sonic artefacts, and more recently building the Hermit Cave studios in Birmingham, Uk. After a long period of experimentation, isolation, meditation and contemplation, Hermit Dubz has re-emerged, ready to unleash his sonic relics.

Knati P:  Musician, painter (the artwork for this release is a painting by Knati), and entertaining performer with a unique vocal style. He studied at the Jamaica School of Art, moved to Brixton, London, in the late 1980s and regularly took part in the Notting Hill festival. In the year 2000 he was voted MC of the year. He has an impressive recording/performing record (Pineapple Tribe, Jah Observer, R.D.K, Manasseh, Equalizer, Skanga International Muzik etc.) and is a much respected lyricist, vocalist and MC.

The two artists met in Surrey, UK, at a dance where Knati was performing with his local sound system, Da Vinci. They have been friends and musical collaborators ever since, and the result is some great riddims, which remained hidden in the Hermit’s cave for quite some time. We managed to get hold of some those tracks and we present them to you today in the form of an EP. "Fyah fi Babylon” consists of 3 vocal tracks and 3 blazing dubs. We hope that the bass heavy sound of Hermit Dubz and the original Jamaican voice of Knati P will be the perfect combination for your upliftment.
