The most enjoyable bands are those that not only surprise and amaze, but also confuse, in a positive way. Listening to the long awaited debut album of 12 Tribes Of Mars is a bit jarring. Lazy laid back beats, uptempo poppy tight rhythms, post-rock constructions, catchy themes, electronica effects. And always that recurring reggae, dub vibe and melodic earworms with many escapes towards jazz and free improvisation: how do you get it together? These are quirky musicians looking for authentic ways to express themselves.

 

Not in a crazy way. All members of 12 Tribes of Mars are trained jazz musicians who thrive at the border between genres. Here you hear craftsmanship—carefully and cleverly crafted compositions and musicians who know what they are doing. Imagine an afternoon on a sunny green lawn in a park, relaxed and spacious without losing clarity. With eyes closed, you drift into a dream and then wake in a vibrant dance club. Through their music, 12 Tribes of Mars takes you to diverse worlds within the universe of sound.

UK reggae dub producer I-niverse keeps spreading the message of peace, love & unification through his work. I-niverse’s sound takes you on an uplifting spiritual journey, driven by pulsating weighty bass lines and majestic melodies that send positive vibrations to the heart and help one to experience states of inner peace.

After a number of digital releases, it is time for his first vinyl single release on the label, featuring Leo Tan on the vocals. The tune is entitled New Jerusalem and it is presented in two versions: the vocal cut and the obligatory dub version!   

With his powerful voice and technique, Leo Tan delivers the most appropriate lyrics for this uplifting riddim, praising God and thanking Him for everything He provides!

In these dark times it is a blessing to be able to release this spiritually uplifting tune!

The original riddim was released as digital single in 2023 entitled Forward Melodicas with Med Dred and Shaky Norman (the riddim has been in the Top 10 Outernational Chart 2023 on R&D Vibes / Radio Sonar in Italy). 

Since then, the track has been played on radio shows around the world, events and on Soundsystems in Cyprus with vocalist Starlight chanting on Med Dred's riddim about the tribulations refugees are facing in a foreign land. It received a great feedback from the crowd, with people asking to release a vocal version on that riddim.This is how RESIDENT was created!

The time has come to finally drop RESIDENT on a special special edition 7 inch polyvinyl dubplate. It is cut on a limited run of 50 hand-numbered copies and it includes on the a side the vocal version by Starlight and on the b side a special dub by Med Dred! The vinyl is now being cut and will be released soon (we hope there will be no delays on vinyl cutting). Nevertheless, you can reserve your copy by per-ordering now!

Portland musician and producer Mikey Dub releases his first vinyl single, featuring Debbie Defire on the vocals, also known in the 70s as Debra Keese. The tune is entitled Thank You and it is presented in two versions: the vocal and a special dub version (released only on vinyl). Featured on the tune is also Texas born Joby Tijerna (aka. Joby T.) on the Horns and Andrew Deetz on the keyboards and percussion. ❤️💛💚

Debbie Defire is a British born artist, who moved to Jamaica with her parents as a toddler in the 60s. In 1978, the legendary Lee Scratch Perry produced for her the tune “Traveling” under the name of Debra Keese and the Black Five. which was released on Black Art label. She was around 18 years old at that time, when she recorded that tune! Today she resides in the UK.

Debbie Defire has come a long way from her debut as a young reggae singer with the hit song ‘Traveling’ produced by Lee Scratch Perry, to the latest release of her new tune produced by Mikey Dub entitled Thank You and we are honored to be a part of her musical journey.

A few words about the dub recipe, which consists of the following three ingredients, only to be found in Japan:

The Dub creator and producer Shanti-K: He Started making music in 1993. As a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, djembe) and producer (Kalpana Studio), he has been providing riddims for various artists, releasing tunes on vinyl and digita, producing tunes also for sound systems.

The female melodica player Aki Mittoo: Coming from the town of Aichi and already a regular on the label, she is known through her collaborations with Dub Cmd, SistaSara and Soul Fire. She has a license as a Yamaha piano instructor and a Suzuki Musical Instrument melodion instructor. her playing Style is cultivated through her experience as instrumentalist in different genres throughout the years.

The Kette drum player and manufacturer Goja Bongos: He lives in the town of Hyogo and he likes earthy music: reggae, African, afro-Cuban and Latin. Since 2015, he has been in charge of the percussion in the roots reggae band of Sister Maki, while his passion for drumming guided him to form in 2019 his own nyahbinghi project. "Goja" is a local dialect of Banshu that means "crazy"! If you enter the circle of Nyahbinghi, the drums of Goja Bongos will shake the earth with a dangerous presence.

Being the most prolific producer of 2020, Dub Cmd has released for digital download two years ago the killer stepper tune Follow The Bassline, ft. Sistasara on the vocals.
